Arriving on Koh Lanta: Plan Your Pier-to-Hotel Transfer

1 November 2026

Connect your boat arrival with your accommodation by checking the exact pier, hotel location, meeting instructions and what the ticket actually includes.

Reaching Koh Lanta does not necessarily mean reaching your hotel. Treat the boat arrival and the journey to your accommodation as separate parts of the trip unless your booking explicitly includes both. A clear handoff plan is especially useful when you have several bags, children or someone who needs boarding assistance.

Match the arrival point to the ticket

Bundhaya's destination information identifies Koh Lanta with Saladan Pier, but that is not permission to assume every product labelled Koh Lanta has identical arrival arrangements. Read the full destination on the service you select. If a hotel describes a pickup point differently from the ticket, send both descriptions to the hotel and boat seller and ask them to resolve it before travel.

Keep the operator name and arrival details with your hotel confirmation. A screenshot of an island map is useful for orientation, but it cannot confirm where your boat will stop or where a driver is allowed to wait. Use the actual provider's instructions for the meeting point.

Give the hotel enough information to arrange pickup

Send your travel date, boat company, scheduled arrival, passenger count and luggage needs. Ask whether pickup is available, whether it must be reserved, and whether it is included in the room or charged separately. Confirm the accommodation's exact address; properties with similar names or several branches can be easy to confuse.

  • Who is meeting you, and what identifying sign will they use?
  • Where should you wait after collecting your bags?
  • How will you contact each other if the boat arrives late?
  • Is the vehicle suitable for your group and luggage?
  • What changes or waiting charges apply if plans move?

If you arrange transport yourself

Ask the accommodation which transport options are suitable for its location and your party. Before agreeing to a ride, confirm the full destination, total price, luggage arrangements and whether the service is shared. Do not infer a short walk or easy access from the name of a beach area. If vehicle access stops before reception, ask what the remaining section involves and who can help with bags.

Keep arrival day flexible

A scheduled arrival is not a guarantee that you can start an excursion immediately afterwards. Allow for disembarking, finding transport and the hotel's check-in arrangements. If you may arrive before the room is ready, ask about luggage storage rather than assuming early access. For a changed sailing, notify the hotel as well as the driver; separate providers may not share updates.

Plan the departure before you settle in

Once the arrival details are clear, check the return boat's departure point separately. An included arrival pickup does not automatically cover a return transfer. Save the contact details and the instructions for leaving the hotel so the last day is not spent arranging a ride at the reporting deadline.

Frequently asked questions

Does the boat fare include hotel delivery?

Only if your selected product says so. A destination name by itself does not include a ground transfer.

Can I use the same pickup instructions for every Koh Lanta sailing?

No. Recheck the arrival point and provider for each booking. If travelling from Railay, inspect the details on East Railay–Koh Lanta; ask through the help page if any meeting-point information conflicts.
